My MY! These ain’t yo’ Mama’s Mission Tortillas!
Tacos and Tequila, otherwise known as San Antonio’s own TNT, brings together a sophisticated dose of Mexican cuisine and unsurpassed Southern Hospitality.
My wife and I had the privilege of tearin’ up some tacos this past Sunday and every element of our meal was fantastic. SOOOOO lets just salsa right in!
We had to appetizzzzze so we vigorously slurped our amazing tortilla soup. The chicken was juicy, and despite its simplicity, the soup was FAB and flavorful! It must be the local ingredients! Just look how beautiful. #FOODporn
Ok- ONTO cocktails! YA know, my wife and I are just lucky sometimes and THAT day we lucked out with a $4 (one time payment) of ENDLESS mimosas. I really don’t know how many we had you know…ere…the flutes were so cute….and I never got to the bottom of the glasses because they kept replacing them. WHO knew mimosas went so well with tacos?!
My expectations for tacos are pretty high considering we just moved from Almost Mexico, USA. Given the versatility of their up-to-the-minute menu I was able to try three types of street tacos including the pulled pork BBQ, grilled chicken, and rojo shrimp flavors (and y’all know I LOVEESS me some shrimpy-shrimps WOOT!)
There was nothing #Mediocre about mi tacos!
On top of the magnificent food, TNT takes pride in serving up guacamole for the good of the community. Each time TNT’s Good Karma Guacamole bowl is ordered $0.50 cents goes to a local charity.
The bar is decorated with a cage of collected concoctions and glasses hanging overhead. The walls are a super modern, thin, wooden plank design. And the restaurant is heavily accented with metal details. ITS LIKE A TEXTILE MILL TURNED LOFT APARTMENT TURNED RESTAURANT #win.
ANND- to add to the atmosphere– local art is showcased throughout the restaurant and Scott Miller’s time-lapse videos of the majestic high desert are a stunning display. At first (because I’m slow sometimes) I thought the displays were pictures-next I thought they were moving-but then I attributed the movement to the eighteenth mimosa. FINALLY I was like “IM NOT THAT CRAZY!! THEY ARE MOVING!”.……and of course I asked our excellent waiter who I tipped just as much our meal (#s/o to RC! HEYYY! Give him a raise!)
Tacos and Tequila is youthful, fresh, and serves up a simplistically flavorful dining experience that will become an acquired taste for all San Antonians.
I HIGHLY recommend TNT.
5 Shiny Gold Stars.
