Waay back in elementary school I remember LOSING my mind when they served breakfast for lunch! I needed to stand in the corner for a second to contain my excitement (then. . . and now.) For those of you who don’t know me well- JUST KNOW that I love breakfast. So when it comes to my meals in the morning all diets, calorie counting, “watchin’ my figure” excuses, et cetera, are completely out the window!
Last Sunday my wife and I visited the Magnolia Pancake Haus (the location on Huebner Rd) and MAN it was PACKED! My first impression was that this was going to be a looooonnnng wait- (but the wait is almost always an indicator of good eats because NOBODY was forfeiting a spot when they arrived.) After walking past the masses and putting my name on the waiting list I immediately received a text for Magnolia Pancake Haus letting me know that their pancakes are “worth the wait.” The text also forwarded me to the No Wait app, a super neat way to reserve your space at a restaurant without the hassle of calling in a reservation. How cool, right?!?
Anyways, please note the wait time…….take a second,….. Yeeeaahhh. THAT’s how long we waited.

And when we got THE text…… I swear we moved swiftly and tactically through the crowd for that table like no one has ever seen! Once inside the Haus we quickly ordered [since we had been sitting in the car thoroughly examining the menu.] In my opinion my order was boring BUT MY FOOD WAS NOT! Let’s chat about this plate from heaven! I ordered a regular buttermilk pancake with a side of eggs and bacon. Simple enough, but hey, its the pancake house and my pancakes were stellar. Everything was phenomenal. All of the matter somehow *evaporated* from my plate. The pancake was fluffy and light, but when I finished eating I didn’t feel that “guilty-heavy-Food Baby” feeling that I normally conceive after breakfast meals like these. My wife ordered the Special of the Day, Pigs in a Blanket. I can’t lie, I was a little skeptical about that choice, but nevertheless, it was the THE BOMB!!! Lemme find some #FoodPorn for you guys!

We expected this dish to be a bit sweeter, as the croissant “blanket” is usually sweet, but much to our surprise the piggies were very savory, flaky croissant/biscuit-like. Since this dish also had a ‘red’ sauce it was a very unexpected tex-mex Creole breakfast treat. WE #clearly weren’t ready. It was delicious.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was a cozy, “down-home” feel, and the wait staff was very polite. I was somewhat shocked by their kindness as they were all moving at supersonic speed and clearing tables quickly (but not in the noisy “throw-the-dishes-in-the-big-grey-bin-CLINKY-CLANKITY-way” thats loud and obnoxious.) I didn’t feel rushed and I did not have to repeat my order 3 times to have exactly what I wanted. They had finesse (in spite of the waiting masses of little church ladies, who we all know can be crotchety) and that’s what stands out for me. The food, the service, and the atmosphere were truly worth the wait, guys. 5 Shiny Gold Stars for Magnolia Pancake Haus.
I absolutely LOVE breakfast too!! 🙂
